COLUMBUS, Ohio -- State Treasurer Josh Mandel intends to expand a program that put the state government's checkbook online to include all local governments, allowing residents to see how their communities and schools are spending money with just a few clicks.
In letters sent Tuesday to more than 18,000 representatives from townships, villages, cities, school boards, county governments library boards and other local entities, Mandel has invited them to add their spending data to the program that already has put hundreds of millions of state transactions over several years into a searchable database.
