PRESS RELEASE and PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Good Afternoon,

Jefferson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio has an important announcement to make concerning Jefferson Township Facilities and the response to the current COVID-19 Coronavirus for the protection of the Township Employees and the General Public

Effective Immediately, All Jefferson Township Facilities including the Administration Building and Fire Stations are CLOSED to the public. The Township Employees will be available to conduct business vis Telephone or Email. For further verification of available services, please see the statements below per Department.

This means that all Facilities are now closed to regular groups and organizations that visit and utilize any of the facilities until further notice. We encourage you to contact your members to make sure that they understand the facilities are not open for any regular scheduled meeting or special events.

If you need to discuss business with Jefferson Township, this communication can only occur by telephone or email. The Office is open for calls or emails from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Monday through Friday. If you reach the Township after Office Hours, you are encouraged to leave a message, and the Township will return your call the next business day.

We encourage you to visit the Township Website to obtain answers to many questions, including Contact information for all Departments , Road Department, Lighting District, Street Light Operations, Park and Cemetery Operations, Trash and Refuse Program, Water, Sewer contact information and all other Township related information.

Here are a few Department Specific Items to review:

Fire Department - The Fire Department will continue to respond to all emergency calls. If you are experiencing flu like systems, we urge you contact your own Physician FIRST to obtain directions from them. This First Step will lessen the burden on Dispatching and Fire Crews and the Local Hospital Emergency Rooms. The Fire Department will suspend all fire safety inspections and community public education. However, to limit exposure to Fire Personnel and the Public, we ask that if you have non-emergency business to conduct, please call 1-937-262-3591. If you try to visit the Administration Building, there is a door bell at the front door. Staff will come to the Door and answer your request if they are available. If they are away from their desks, or on an Emergency call please leave a note for the Fire Department to contact you at a later time. Police- Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office - The Montgomery County Sheriff will continue to provide service to Emergency Calls and protecting your family and neighborhoods. If you have any business to discuss, Please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 937-225-1279. If you want to Leave a message for MCSO Captain Andy Flagg. Please call 1-937-496-6887.

Zoning Department – Approved Zoning Permits will be mailed or emailed to the applicant. Pending permits will continue to be reviewed. Questions or concerns regarding any zoning issue will be handled by phone or email. Please call the Township Office at 1-937-262-3591. Please be patient as the Zoning Administrator is working on a part-time schedule.

Code Enforcement Department – Any questions or concerns about Code Enforcement, to include, but not limited to High Weeds, Junk, Debris, vacant homes, or possible violation of a zoning law, should be directed to the Code Enforcement Officer and Not the Zoning Officer.

Finance Department – Questions concerning the financial operation of the Township should be directed to the Fiscal Officer. If you are a vendor, and have invoice or billing questions, please call the Administration Offices at 91-937-262-3591.
