How to Purchase Township-Owned Property

Jefferson Township periodically makes Township-owned properties available for sale to support responsible development, neighborhood stability, and community reinvestment.

Interested buyers may submit a formal offer to purchase an available property. All offers are reviewed and acted upon by the Jefferson Township Board of Trustees at a public meeting.

Step-by-Step Purchase Process

1. Review Available Properties
Only properties listed as “available” are eligible for purchase. Properties are sold as-is, and buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence.

2. Submit an Offer to Purchase
Interested parties must complete the Township’s Property Purchase Offer Form, which includes:

• Buyer information
• Property parcel number and address
• Offer amount (cash offer)
• Earnest money (if applicable)
• Intended use of the property

Completed forms must be submitted to the Township Administrator’s Office.

3. Board Review & Action
All offers are presented to the Board of Trustees. The Board may:

• Accept the offer
• Reject the offer
• Issue a counteroffer

No offer is binding until formally accepted by the Board and memorialized in a separate purchase agreement.

4. Contract & Closing
If approved, the Township will work with the buyer to finalize a purchase agreement and coordinate closing.
