Community Shred Day Program
Program Overview
Jefferson Township’s Community Shred Day is a free public service program designed to help residents safely and responsibly dispose of confidential paper documents. The program supports identity theft prevention, community cleanliness, and environmentally responsible recycling by ensuring sensitive materials are securely destroyed.
Shred Day is open to Jefferson Township residents and community members and is offered on a limited, scheduled basis throughout the year.
Why the Township Offers Shred Day
Many households store documents containing personal or financial information long after they are needed. Improper disposal of these materials can increase the risk of identity theft and fraud.
The Community Shred Day program allows residents to:
- Securely destroy confidential documents
- Reduce the risk of identity theft
- Clear out old paperwork safely
- Ensure paper materials are recycled after destruction
- Access a no-cost service that would otherwise require a paid vendor
This program reflects Jefferson Township’s commitment to resident safety, responsible waste management, and community support services.
